There is good news to report about the outlook for significant wildfire activity in the West this summer, but that doesn't mean that Oregon and its neighbors will emerge unscathed.

Anyone who's wandered outside during our cool and rainy spring will know about some of this good news, but the news gets better: Those weather conditions haven't been isolated to Oregon. Across the West, those cooler temperatures have led to slower-than-normal melting of the region's relatively heavy snowpack.
