ANCHORAGE – Five Alaska firefighting crews headed south Wednesday to assist Lower 48 crews. Officials with the Bureau of Land Management Fire Service (BLM AFS) say Alaska’s “moderate” fire season is winding down, while states like Idaho and California are in the midst of worsening fires.
