Big Sur >> The fierce and hungry Soberanes Fire, now 8 days old, continued to spread east and southeast into Los Padres National Forest on Saturday. It is moving into very steep, inaccessible terrain, where it is almost impossible to place hand crews to fight it, Cal Fire reported.

So far the fire has burned 33,668 acres (24,839 acres in Cal Fire territory and 8,829 acres of U.S. Forest Service land).
