The recreation chickens have come home to roost in one of Colorado’s most-popular, most-visited and most-impacted legally designated Wilderness areas.

Responding to significant use-based environmental impacts to the iconic Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness (MBSW), the U.S. Forest Service decided last summer to implement a permit system for overnight camping in several areas within the boundaries of the 181,000-acre Wilderness, located outside Aspen.
